Federal Way, you've been stuck between two large cities for two long, and pulled between two parties for even longer.
I know you, because I have been a part of you since my childhood. You are not Seattle. You are not Tacoma. And you are certainly not Auburn!
There is a pulse in the Federal Way community. It is the pulse of real conservatism. I can hear it's heartbeat every time I meet one of the thousands of entrepeneurs trying to make a living in the town. And I can hear it every day as countless commuters leave their homes to go work in one of the neighboring communities.
I hear it every Saturday in the hum of the lawn mowers, the buzz of the weed-whackers.
We are a people who built a community on a foundation of ideals.
An ideal that communities can be clean, comfortable, and safe.
An ideal that people should own property, and take care of it, and be proud of it.
An ideal that cars are the great liberators of the American people, and are simultaneously a monument to freedom and a tool to provide it.
An ideal that a politics should be driven by the people, not politicians.
An ideal that schools can be different.
An ideal that the federal and state governments have no business on my property and in my home!
My goal is simple, really. I want to give a voice to the engineers, the commuters, the business owners, the landowners, who have been silenced for too long. Silenced by newspapers that don't want to tell the real story. Silenced by politicians who don't want to represent the people. Silenced by a vocal minority who refuses to take the time to listen.
Your day has come.

…and another thing. What I have noticed, with regularity and in all sorts of different venues, is the ease and naturalness of Federal Way “just regular folks” giving thanks and credit to the Good Lord.
In January at the Martin Luther King Jr Celebration, there was a panel of teens who were asked some thought provoking and illuminating questions. More often than not, the young people mentioned their faith and gave positive remarks about religion and spirituality in their lives. Wow.
At Pagents like the recent Junior Miss Pagent at the Knutzen, the interview questions elicited remarks by the contestents which reflected religious ideals. It was heartwarming to say the least!
At sports events, dance events, even (Oh My!) school related functions…I hear parents, and kids, speak openly about their beliefs. Are we a conservative community? Yes. And friendly, welcoming, and tolerant too.
