Tolerance and Kindness Shown to Disagreeing Opinion—Not

By Jonathan Gardner

I’m a conservative. That means I love people. I want to hear what they have to say. If I disagree, I want the right to speak about my disagreement, and I want others to have the same rights I have.

But if you’re a liberal college student at the University of Massachussetts, you don’t love other people. You hate them. You hate them so much you don’t even want to allow them the dignity to speak.

“If these people want to think they won, that’s fine,” he said, “the Soviets thought they won until the Berlin Wall came down, the Nazis thought they won until 1945.”

Don Feder was invitied by the College Republicans at UMass to speak on hate speech and hate crimes. He wasn’t allowed to because the police refused to keep order and the leftists refused to allow him a chance to speak.

Interesting. Why is it that the leftists have to shut down free speech in order to win a debate? Why is it that conservatives tolerate and even invite free speech? Think about that for a while. When you finally understand, you’ll be a conservative.
