I was stationed in S. Korea in the late 70's, actually when the S. Korean president, I believe it was pak shun hi, was assinated by his own member of his staff....it was Oct of 79 and it was my very first duty station...I was in the Infantry then, in any case we were immediately sent futher north to the DMZ...I was in Camp Hovey...anyways I know what you state about their poverty....since then S. Korea has become a totally different place.....though I have not been back to S. Korea since first being there I have seen media and other reports an pictures that shows a 180 change....I remember when a dollar was over 500 won.....I remember patrolling the various villages where they lived in crap....they washed their clothes, and did many other things in this bowl, and for the death of me I cannot remember it's name, nonetheless that same bowl they used they also cooked in it...then they just washed it out and had the trash washed into what we then called it "tuttle traps"...but I babbling here.....they have come a long way today....and it scares the crap out of me as I see America moving to where I first saw S. Korea once......God help us all if we do not stop this corruption in the higher echelons of our Government...
